FHI Consulting Engineers is a Cape Town based engineering firm specialising in structural & civil engineering.
We are dedicated to delivering inventive, imaginative and innovative designs to our clients in collaboration with the project architects and the rest of the professional team.
We strive to provide personal and focused engineering solutions to all our clients. We believe that building strong relationships with our clients and the consulting team is critical to deliver successful projects.
The director and employees of the company hold membership at the following institutions:

– National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC)
– South African Institute of Civil Engineers (SAICE)
– South African Institute of Steel Construction (SAISC)
– Institute of Municipal Engineering of SA (IMESA)
– South African Institute of Draughting (SAID)
FHI endeavours to keep up with the latest technologies available to the industry. We utilise AutoCAD, Revit and design programmes such as Prokon in our design and documentation process. As well as the latest material advances used in structural engineering and are continuously improving what we can offer.
FHI is capable of providing our services for any region in South Africa, the rest of Africa and the world. We have equipped ourselves to be able to provide our services utilising SANS, British Standard and Eurocode design codes and practices.

Frans Odendaal Pr Eng, BEng
Director
Frans Odendaal, director at FHI Consulting Engineers, completed his BEng (Civil) in 2007 at Stellenbosch University and registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA in 2013. Commenced with his career in 2008 at WBHO Construction as a Site Engineer during the construction of the Cape Town Stadium. From 2009 until 2020 he gained valuable structural engineering, managerial and business orientated experience at consulting engineering firms in the Cape Town metropole.
FHI has a competent team, which currently consists of the Director, Structural Engineer, Structural Technologist, Structural Draughtsman and Structural Technician. Between the team members we cover the full array of duties such as design, inspections, meetings, drawings, schedules, modelling, etc. required to complete each project
